CCS graduate
to hold
book signings
Staff Writer
Cooperstown Central School graduate Rebecca Additon will
be in Cooperstown this month for book readings and signings.
Additon, a 2001 graduate, was inspired to publish a children's
book, "It Doesn't Look Like a Monster: A Visit to Fenway
Park," while working with a little girl who has cerebral palsy.
She and the little girl co-wrote the book, which is told through
the eyes of the seven-year-old who recounts her experience visiting
the Boston Red Sox stadium Fenway Park.
"It Doesn't Look Like a Monster: A Visit to Fenway Park.," is
dedicated to 11-year-old Nicholas Mykytyn who currently attends
Greater Plains Elementary School in Oneonta. Mykytyn
is a little boy Rebecca worked with when she was working with
children with developmental disabilities at Upstate Homes,
which is now known as Springbrook.
Additon will be available to sign books at the Lemon Tree
Shop on 173 Main St. in Cooperstown from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday,
Jan 8.
There will also be a book reading/ signing in the children's
section of the Village Library on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 5 p.m.
Mykytyn will be present.
The book will also be available at local bookstores and at
amazon.com. Proceeds from book sales will support Sierra's
educational needs.
Rebecca, now 25, is the daughter of Kay and Keith Additon
of Cooperstown.
