CV-S girls win big game at Schenevus

Staff report

CHERRY VALLEY - Watch out for the "Super Seven." The Cherry Valley-Springfield girls basketball team improved to 3-0 with an impressive, 42-26 road win at Schenevus last Thursday.

"We only have seven girls on the team so I call them my Super Seven," said CV-S girls basketball coach Amy Garretson. "They're a very motivated group."

The Lady Patriots have used changing defenses and balanced scoring to take early control in the Tri-Valley East. On Friday, Morgan VanAlstine had a game-high 13 points, but Courtney Van- Brink added nine and Laura Kroon and Morgan Schuster eight apiece.

"Teams tend to focus their defense on Morgan, so it's important we get that balanced scoring," Garretson said.

"Schenevus was supposed to be one of the better teams on our side, so it was a big confidence- booster for us."

CV-S is off until next Thursday, when they play another big game at Milford.

The Lady Patriots home game with Morris Tuesday was postponed due to poor weather.
