CCS girls lose, 2-1
Staff Report
The Cooperstown girls soccer
team lost the rubber match
to rival Herkimer on Tuesday
night.
Trailing 2-0 in the second
half, Anna Kieler scored for
Coopperstown to cut the lead
in half.
CCS girls soccer coach Jennifer
Pindar said her team
dominated play after that, but
just failed to put the ball in
the net.
``It was a great game and it
usually is when we play Herkimer,’’
Pindar said. ``We like
playing them because it’s always
great competition.’’
Last Wednesday the Lady
Redskins won a tough game,
2-1, at Mt. Markham as Claire
Petroskey had a goal and assist.
Petroskey was moved to a
forward position after junior
Laura Rowley re-injured a
knee early in the first half.
Rowley will be out until at
least the beginning of sectionals.
Petroskey scored the first
goal to give Cooperstown a 1-0
lead with about five minutes
left before halftime, and after
the Mustangs tied it on a penalty
kick, assisted Jenny Potrikus’
game winning goal with
about 13 minutes left.
CCS also took a 1-0 home
win over Canastota on Friday.
