Willie Mays, Pete Rose among
those signing this weekend

Some businesses and organizations
are planning special
events for the weekend in an
effort to attract more of the
50,000-plus visitors expected
in Cooperstown this weekend.
Art Ausfeld, owner of A & E
Sportscards and More located
on 134 Main Street, said autographs
from ballplayers will
be available in front of his
store on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday. The autograph signings
are being presented by
Jack Berke/ J.B. Sports Marketing
Inc., according to a flier.
Players that will be appearing
include:
- Al Kaline (Inducted into
Hall in 1980, was active from
1953 to 1974 and spent his entire
career with the Detroit
Tigers).
- Dave Winfield (Inducted
into the Hall in 2001 and is in
the 3,000 Hit Club).
- Jim Bunning (Inducted
into the Hall in 1996 and is a
perfect game pitcher).
- Whitey Ford (Inducted
into the Hall in 1974 with his
Big Apple other half Mickey
Mantle).
- Bobby Doerr (A former
second baseman was inducted
into the Hall in 1986 and
played his entire career with
the Boston Red Sox).
- Jerry Coleman (A former
New York Yankee who was inducted
into the Hall in 2005).
- Ralph Kiner (Inducted
into Hall in 1975 and is a current
announcer).
- Jim Rice (A Red Sox legend).
- Cecil Fielder (1996 Yankee
and home run champ).
-Monte Irvin (A former left
fielder who played in the Negro
Leagues and for Major
League baseball. He was inducted
into the Hall in 1973).
- Gaylord Perry (A former
right-handed pitcher who was
inducted into the Hall in
1991).
- Bob Feller (A former major
league pitcher who was inducted
into the Hall in 1962).
- Johnny Podres (A former
left-handed pitcher who was a
Brooklyn Dodger great).
- Jesse Barfield (A former
Yankee home run champ).
- Rollie Fingers (A former
relief pitcher noted for his
handlebar mustache who was
inducted into the Hall in
1992).
- Don Schwall (A former
right-handed pitcher who was
Rookie of the Year and an All
Star in 1961).
- Jim Coates (A Yankee
star right-handed pitcher).
Particular players will be
present on certain days of the
week during certain time

Collector's World on 139
Main Street will be hosting a
Hall Of Famer's autograph
session during Induction
Weekend. On Friday, baseball
fans can come see George Kell,
Monte Irvin, Steve Carlton,
Robin Roberts, Johnny Bench,
Joe Morgan, Lou Brock and
Bob Feller. On Saturday, Bob
Feller, Bobby Doerr, Monte Irvin,
George Kell, Billy Williams
and Robin Roberts will
be present. And on Sunday,
Bob Feller, Steve Carlton and
Robin Roberts will be at the
shop. More information can be

TJ's Place/ The Home Plate
on 124 Main Street will also
be having players signing autographs
this weekend. Players
that will be signing include:
- Orlando Cepeda (Some
called the former first baseman
and Hall of Famer the
Babe Ruth of Latin America).
- Yogi Berra (A former
catcher and manger who
played most of his career with
the Yankees. He was elected
into the Hall in 1972. Berra
was one of only four players to
be named the Most Valuable
Player of the American League
three times, and one of only
six managers to lead both
American and National
League teams to the World Series).
- Harmon Killebrew (Killebrew
became one of the
American League's most
feared power hitters of the
1960s, belting 40 homers in a
season eight times. He led the
American League in home
runs six times).
- Juan Marichal (A former
right-handed pitcher known
for his high leg kick, dominating
stuff and intimidation tactics,
which included aiming
pitches directly at the opposing
batters' helmets. He played
most of his career with the
San Francisco Giants).
- Ferguson Jenkins (A Canadian
former right-handed
pitcher who played most of his
career with the Chicago
Cubs).
- Bob Feller (The former
pitcher and hall of famer is
nicknamed the "Heater from
Van Meter" and "Rapid Rober.
He played his entire career
with the Cleveland Indians).
- Gaylord Perry (A former
right-handed pitcher who was
inducted into the Hall in 1991.
He was the first pitcher to win
a Cy Young Award for both
the American League and Nation
League).
- Paul Blair (A former center
fielder for the Orioles).
- Frank Robinson (An outfielder,
most notably with the
Cincinnati Reds and the Baltimore
Orioles. During a 21-season
career, he became the first
player to win League MVP
honors in both the National
and American Leagues).
- Graig Nettles (Former
great third baseman who followed
Lou Gehrig and Thurman
Munson in the role of
Yankee captain).
- Richard "Goose" Gossage
(A former relief pitcher who
played 21 years with 9 different
teams. He played his best
years with the Yankees and
Padres).
- James "Mudcat" Grant
(Former pitcher who helped
the Twins win the 1965 American
League Pennant, the Pirates
win the 1970 National
League Eastern Division and
1971 World Series and the
Athletics win the 1971 American
League Western Division).
- Rollie Fingers (Former
relief pitcher known for his
handlebar mustache).
- Mike Norris (A former
right-handed starting pitcher
who played for the Oakland
Athletics).
Particular players will be
present on certain days of the
week during certain time
frames. Prices also vary according
to player and what
people want signed.
Pioneer Sports Cards and
Deyo and sons Sports will be
having signings as well. They
will be featuring Bill "Spaceman"
Lee and Denny McLain.
Lee will be available to sign
any item for $15 on Friday
from 1-4 p.m., Saturday from
11 a.m to 2 p.m. and on Sunday
from 9 a.m. to noon.
McLain will be available to
sign any item with one inscription
on Friday from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m., Saturday from 1-4 p.m.
and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to
noon.
The Seventh Inning Stretch
will be featuring 2002 Hall of
Fame inductee Ozzie Smith on
Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Balls
and flats will be signed for
$50, 11 x 14 flats and larger
will be signed for $95, Equipment
and caps for $95, Jersey
numbers for $125 and inscriptions
for $20.
Safe at Home Ball Park &
Collectables on 92 Main Street
will be presenting Pete Rose
and Mike Schmidt. Rose, baseballs
"All Time Hits Leader,"
will be at the shop on Friday
and Saturday from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m., and from 3-5 p.m. and
on Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon.
He will be signing flats and
balls for $65, caps and equipment
for $75, bats and jerseys
for $95 and inscriptions for
$20.
Schmidt, who was inducted
into the Hall in 1995, will be
at the shop on Saturday from
3-5 p.m. He will be signing
flats and balls for $60, bats
and jerseys for $90 and inscriptions
for $20.
