RICHFIELD_Josh White won his weight class, and Andrew Bogart took home a second place finish as the Cooperstown wrestling team finished ninth out of 14 teams at the 20th annual Jeffrey Calkins Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

White, a senior who was seeded first, won by technical fall over Camden’s Chris O’Leary in the 145-pound final.

White had a first round bye, then pinned Sherburne-Earlville’s Virgil Thomas and won by major decision over Nate Stranges of Herkimer, 16-4.

Bogart, who was seeded fourth, lost by pin in the 215-pound weight class final to John Posson of Dolgeville. Bogart also had a first round bye, then pinned both James Betts of Mt. Markham and Phil Dashnaw of Camden to advance to the final.

``To be seeded fourth and get to the final was an impressive day for Andrew,’’ said CCS wrestling coach Jim Jordan. ``He did really well.’’

Junior Mike Croft took home a fourth place finish at 130 pounds, losing to David Dykeman of Dolgeville in the third place match. Croft pinned John Leonard of Little Falls and decision Mike Barse of Little Falls during the daylong tournament.

Unadilla Valley won the tournament with 202 1/2 points, followed by Sherburne-Earlville (163 1/2) and Herkimer (139).

Cooperstown finished with 58 1/2 points. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
