Soccer team will look for their second Tri-Valley three-peat

The Milford girls soccer team will look for their second Tri-Valley three-peat in school history on Saturday.

The Wildcats, the Tri-Valley East champions, will meet T-V West winner Edmeston at 1 p.m. at the Wright National Soccer Campus.

It will be the third straight year the teams have met for the title, both Milford victories.

If the Wildcats do win, it will be the second straight time they have won three straight T-V titles, also accomplishing the feat in the 1997-99 seasons.

``It would be my seventh title overall, and I'm kind of superstitious with numbers,'' said Milford head coach Lorin Campbell. ``We've been playing well, and the big key for us will be to finish on our scoring opportunities.''

Milford, 14-1-2, defeated Edmeston, 1-0, in their only regular season meeting back on Sept. 15. Edmeston is 12-3-1 overall.

The Wildcats are led offensively by juniors Brenna Campbell and Maria Arnot, who combined for 48 goals and 28 assists this season, including 28 and 16 for Campbell.

`A lot of Brenna's goals came from outside the box, and that's something we worked on all summer,'' Lorin Campbell said. ``We've also been getting a lot of other players involved too, and that makes defenses pay attention.''

Junior Emily Brigham and freshman Chandler Prouty each scored four goals for the Wildcats, who outscored their opponents by a 61-8 margin this season.

`My defense gets overlooked, but I have a very strong unit,'' Campbell said. ``We only gave up three goals all year in Tri-Valley play, and that's pretty remarkable.''

Senior sweeper Corrine Ketzlick is one of the best in the area, Campbell said, and in Morgan Dutcher and Natasha Roseboom he has two defensive stoppers.

Those two will probably keep a close eye on Edmeston's Amanda Dockstader, who led the Panthers with 21 goals and seven assists, on Saturday.

`We look at the year like three seasons,'' Campbell said. ``The first was the regular season, the second is Saturday, and the third will begin with sectionals. Right now our focus is on winning another Tri-Valley title.''

Milford will begin Section Four Class D play on Wednesday, Oct. 25 when they host Tri-Valley rival Worcester at 3:30 p.m.
