Gym accepting nominations for Pat Fetterman Award
The Clark Sports Center is seeking nominations for its annual Fetterman Award. This award is given in memory of Patrick C. Fetterman, longtime associate director of the ACC Gymnasium/Clark Sports Center. Recipients are honored for their dedication to serving local youth, especially in the area of athletics.
The Clark Sports Center will make a presentation of this award at a special gathering of friends, family and members of the community.
This date will be set by the Sports Center at the convenience of both the Sports Center and the recipient. A trophy sculpted by Fred Blatt, local artist, is on display in the trophy case and each year the recipient's name is added to the engraved plate on the trophy. The recipient also receives a plaque to keep. The intent is to honor a community member with a show of genuine appreciation by the Clark Family/Foundation/Sports Center for all he/she has done for youth and athletics.
If you know somebody who you feel has the qualities listed below and would be a good candidate for this award, send a letter naming this candidate and reasons why you feel he/she is deserving of this award to the following address: Brenda Wedderspoon-Gray, Clark Sports Center, P.O. Recipient qualifications: must be involved with local youth in the area of athletics; caring, compassionate, kind; honest, fair, ethical; unselfish motives, good-hearted; show good sportsmanship, patience, sense of humor; teaches through example; well-liked and respected by children and adults; enjoys what he/she is doing; is truly interested in helping children with a positive experience; has direct contact with children, but in their involvement may help with fund-raisers, etc.; may be a coach, referee/umpire, organizer; is an excellent role model.
Past recipients of this award include: 1993, Lavern "Beanie" Ainslie; 1994, Jack Vineyard; 1995, Ted Kantorowski; 1996, Malcolm Brooks; 1997-98, Jerry Townsend; 1998-99, Don Howard; 2000, Dick White; and 2001, Pat and Ed Hazzard.
All nominations need to be in by Monday, Sept. 23.
