Support park project

I have always believed that Cooperstown is the perfect place to raise a family.

It is also one of the few towns I have been to that is lacking a public playground.

Now the reality of a playground for Cooperstown’s young children is finally in our sights. The Village’s approval of a playground at Badger Park (formerly Village Gardens), located behind the Great American, is an exciting step for the Cooperstown community. The plan, however, is merely the first step. Funding this playground is our charge.

Whether you have pre-schoolaged children or whether you have ever enjoyed the thrill of being pushed in a swing yourself, I encourage you all to be a part of this effort. Happy and healthy children benefit the entire community.

Currently, the Friends of the Parks, Inc. is seeking donations on behalf of the Badger Park Playground fund.

Donations can be mailed to Friends of the Parks, Inc., P.O. Box 1008, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326. I hope that you will join me in support of these efforts.

Despite the crowded calendars of the holiday season, these teenagers began their weekend at Christ Episcopal Church Friday afternoon to help parishioners set up platforms for the “Voices of Cooperstown” concert the following evening.

On Saturday morning, Leo members traveled to the Richfield Springs Public Library to aid in the distribution of holiday food baskets on behalf of Opportunities for Otsego and the local food bank.

That night it was back to Christ Church to take down and store the risers following the presentation.

The Leos send gracious thanks to the church for their generous donation.

Money raised by the Leo Club is used to fund the charitable activities of the organization.

Anyone wishing to contact the Leo Club may do so by calling President Anna Weber at 547-1280 or David Pearlman at 547-4186.
