Letters to the Editor
Where do
you shop?
In response to recently published
letters to the editor
from Doris and Richard
Marks:
Where do you shop for groceries,
flowers, paint, gas, videos,
hardware, haircuts, newspapers,
books, insurance, gifts,
artwork, something old or
new, pizza, or wine ...
How about a tombstone or
two?
Where do you bank, mail
packages, make copies, seek
legal advice, have your vehicles
serviced, exercise, or eat
out? Do you walk, drive or use
the bus?
Are you aware of the library,
museum, health clinic,
children’s center, food bank,
funeral home, B and Bs,
churches ...
Do you hear music? Rock ‘n
roll, opera, blues ...
Have you noticed the sculpture
trail, kites, classic cars,
art, poetry, history and its restoration?
Did your offspring learn to
swim, participate and volunteer,
along with the three Rs?
Needless to say, folks in our
community can choose to wear
cherry-colored glasses 365
days a year!
Oh! And when you’re ready
to sell your place (home, farm
or business), that’s locally
available, as well.

Thanks to our
legislators
The recently passed New
York state budget included
special funding for the promotion
of the apple and wine industries.
We extend a special
thank you to Assemblyman
Bill Magee, chairman of the
Assembly Agriculture Committee,
for his outstanding effort
to allocate this funding.
On the Senate side, we thank
Jim Seward for his continued
support from his position on
the Senate Agriculture Committee.
The apple and the wine industries
are both thriving in
New York, due in large part to
the funding they have received
in the state budget over the
past several years. Money
from this budget will continue
the promotion of local apples
and wine in the media and directly
impact sales while enhancing
our local economy.
Assemblyman Magee and
Sen. Seward both recognize
the importance of agriculture
to the rural economy and have
once again stepped up to fight
for us in Albany. We are lucky
to have them there.
