Letters to the Editor

For the record

This paper reported that at the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s board meeting of Thursday, Jan. 18, the vote for budget-balancing and re-organization involved 10 board members and was unanimous. Although I attended and was therefore counted as part of the quorum, I left the meeting early in order to attend a Town of Otsego meeting. Hence I was not there to vote. As I understand it, five more board members were also absent for this entire meeting.

Although I certainly believe in balanced budgets, had I been there when a vote was called, and had it been clearly stated just how the personnel at the Extension would be treated as a result of this vote, I would have voted an unequivocal no.

Youth Group thanks merchants

The Cooperstown Ecumenical Youth Group (CEYG) would like to thank several local merchants who generously donated to two recent Youth Group events.

The CEYG held a Casino Night which was supported by Box Office Video, Rich Busse, Sal’s Pizzeria, Tin Bin Alley and Video To Go. Pizza Hut, in The Commons Plaza, underwrote half the cost of the pizzas which were enjoyed at the first annual "Bring a Friend to Youth Group" Party.

A heartfelt "Thank You" goes out to all those in our community who continue to support the CEYG!
