The 2004 Cooperstown Christmas Carol'
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this Cooperstown Christmas thing.
Every day another event;
Holly dollars must be spent.
Little children on Santa's knee;
Everyone busy as a bee.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this Cooperstown Christmas thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this non-baseball concert thing.
Music floated through the night.
Aging ears were covered tight.
Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan
Made quite a joyous din.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this non-baseball concert thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this Otsego Manor thing.
A nice new pleasant place
Giving residents their space.
But will we all be put to shame
When we don't use its name?
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this new Meadows thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this road widening thing.
Now there'll be a turning lane
And sidewalks so they claim.
As people down the walks plod
On ancestors' toes they will trod.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this road widening thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this capital project thing.
There are plans afoot galore
Always wanting a great deal more.
A gymnasium and such;
Things that are needed so very much.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this capital project thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this lack of parking thing.
Cars going up and down the street
Never a parking spot do they meet.
Everyone has a great big frown
Whenever they try to park in town.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this lack of parking thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this wondrous colorful thing.
Sitting there upon the street
Knowing its color can't be beat.
Why was it painted people ask
Hoping that it will not last.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this wondrous colorful thing.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this lousy weather thing.
What a damp and dismal year;
Not very much of which to cheer.
Will the winter up ahead
Make us want to hide our head.
Hark the herald angels sing
Of this lousy weather thing.
We remain,
In these Otsego hills,
Where nature smiles,
Wishing you a most joyous holiday season,
The Ellsworths
