HOG coming to town Friday
Staff Report
As many as 500 Harley Davidson riders are expected to roar into Cooperstown Friday morning.
They are members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and about 700 to 1,000 are expected to attend the New York State HOG Rally today through Saturday at the Kaatskill Mountain Club at Hunter Mountain. The participants will ride the almost 70 miles from Hunter to Cooperstown and will park at the blue trolley lot. According to the Hunter Mountain website, the group will have an opportunity to visit the Hall of Fame, Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum.
HOG is an international organization of Harley-Davidson owners.
According to a Hunter Mountain blog, HOG members including representatives from the Harley Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee are expected to attend The Great American Rally and "cruise sun dappled, twisted Catskill mountain roads past cool running streams and picturesque waterfalls. Riders will explore open roads through farmland and sample the quaint country quilt of local flavor and culture availing themselves of both group rides and solo ventures."
The blog also says HOG members will participate in a variety of activities including a pie eating contest, a dresser light show, bike games, and a bike show. Vendors will be on sight for shopping. There will also be plenty of food and entertainment.
Events open to the public include the bike show on Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. There will be a "People’s Choice" ballot available for all visitors to vote for their favorite. There will also be a parade of bikes running through Hunter and Tannersville on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Hunter Mountain is a four-season resort located approximately two hours from the New York metropolitan area. For more information on Hunter Mountain, visit www.huntermtn.com.
