Bassett Hospital signing up junior volunteers

Teenagers looking for something fun and exciting to do this summer should check out Bassett Healthcare's Junior Volunteer Program. Teenagers 14 to 18 years old have the opportunity to donate time to serve their community and explore career options.

Available assignments are in the Emergency Department, nursing units, gift shop, Pediatrics, Surgical Outpatient Clinic, and at the information desks. The program begins Thursday, July 5.

"This program is an excellent introduction for young adults interested in learning about work in a health care environment," said Barbara Ann Heegan-VanSpanje, director of Volunteer Services for Bassett.

Students are asked to donate four to six hours, one or two days each week during July and August.centers. To participate, students must be at least 14 years old, have parental permission and provide immunization records.

For information or an application, call Volunteer Services at 607-547-3190.
