Hall of Fame Game parade is Monday

By CASEY CAMPBELL

The 2007 Hall of Fame Game Parade featuring the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays is set for Monday at noon.

The parade precedes the annual home run derby at 1 p.m. and exhibition game at 2 p.m. between the two teams at Doubleday Field.

This year’s parade features more than 35 units, including antique cars, five marching bands, locally-sponsored floats and members of the two Major League Baseball teams riding in Cooperstown’s trolleys.

The parade leaves from Cooper Park at noon, heads down Main Street to the stop light, turns onto Chestnut Street - where the two teams split off and head to the field - and concludes part of the way down Susquehanna Avenue.

Parts of Main, Pioneer, Church, and Elk Streets and Susquehanna Avenue will be closed for the duration of the parade.

The Cooperstown Vet’s Club color guard will lead the parade and will be followed by the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division color guard and band.

The parade will also feature the Herkimer Co. Detachment USMC League, Cooperstown Community Band, Generation Drill & Drum Corps and Cherry Valley-Springfield school marching band.

"We’ve got a great lineup and expect to have a lot of people in town," said John Bullis, executive director of the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the parade. "Everybody come and have a great time."
