Students take part in project

Staff Report

TODDSVILLE _ The Museum Project Exhibition of students’ works at The Brookwood School on March 28 represented the culmination of a collaboration of learning between The Brookwood School and artist Bertha Rogers, cofounder of Bright Hill Press/ Word Thursdays in Treadwell, a press release from the school announced.

The Museum Project began March 12, with a field trip to the New York State Museum in Albany where the students selected objects to begin their individualized research and development.

The Brookwood School received a NYSCA-Creative Partnership Grant administered through the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts in Oneonta (UCCCA) to fund this project, the press release said. Susan Bennis Ward initiated the contact with Bertha Rogers and wrote the grant.

The Museum Project is an interdisciplinary work inclusive of all art and non-art curricular areas.

All lower and upper elementary students at Brookwood School participated in the Museum Project with guidance by lead teachers Judy Wertenbaker, Judith Allen, and Vivian Allison. Amy Williams, Head of Brookwood School, was the project director, the press release said.
