Two CCS board seats up for grabs in May election

Staff Report

Two Cooperstown Central School Board seats are up for election May 15.

The seats currently held by Betsy DelGiacco Jay and Kelly Branigan are open. Both said Tuesday they were unsure if they were running for reelection.

District clerk Darlene Bennett said Tuesday that one person had submitted a petition, but declined to give the name out until after the deadline for submission had passed.

Votes on the $15.8 million 2007-2008 operating budget and a $7.2 million capital project will also be held May 15. The board is using $650,000 from the unreserved fund balance to reduce the tax levy’s impact.

The budget is estimated to result in a 2.64 percent increase. An information meeting about the capital project is scheduled for April 23.

Monday is the last day for nominating petitions for the board seats to be submitted. For more information, call the school at 547-5364.
