Funeral services scheduled for CCS senior

Staff Report

The funeral for Christopher T. Gentile, the Cooperstown Central School senior who died in an automobile accident last week, will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the middle/high school gymnasium.

A Service of Committal and Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Index, immediately after a Mass of Christian Burial, organizers said.

A reception will be held in the school cafeteria after the burial. Organizers said the cafeteria will be open for anyone who doesn't wish to go to the cemetery but wants to attend the reception.

Calling hours will be held today, Monday April 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home on 82 Chestnut St.

Gentile, 18, a three-sport standout, was killed Thursday night after he lost control of the sport utility vehicle he was driving along a curve on county Route 33 in Middlefield, according to Otsego County sheriff's deputies.
