Bullis takes over at Chamber
Staff Report
John Bullis officially took the helm of the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce last Thursday. He replaces Polly Renckens as executive director, a position that, in conjunction with the board, is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the entire organization.
After a week on the job, Bullis said Tuesday he’s had a great start to his tenure.
"I’m absolutely having a great time," he said. "I’ve been meeting an awful lot of people from the community. I’m absolutely excited to be involved with the business community in the Cooperstown area."
Bullis said the chamber is currently gearing up for its Easter celebration activities and its involvement with the Hall of Fame Game Parade. They’re also working on ad sales for the village trolleys, he said.
Long-term, Bullis said he looks forward to working with the village’s diverse business community to increase its reach to even more people.
Bullis is a retired dean of Herkimer County Community College and veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He currently lives in Fairfield with his wife, who works at the college.
He said he’ll be making the approximately 30-minute commute to Cooperstown while looking for an opportunity to move closer to the village.
The Chamber office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
