MIDWEEK UPDATE
CV-S to hold vote on $7.78 million project in March
By CASEY CAMPBELL
Staff Writer
Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School district residents will decide on a nearly $8 million capital project March 13.
The board of education approved the scope of the work Thursday night and set a date for the referendum on the $7.78 million project.
Much of the project focuses on space reconfiguration, including a transformation and expansion of the library media center into an "information commons" more centrally located in the school. Improving the interior systems, fixing the leaky roof and reconfiguring and rebuilding the parking lot are some of the other elements included in the project.
The project will result in an estimated increase in the tax levy of slightly more than one-half of one percent, or about $23,107 per year over the 15-year life of the project.
Estimates provided by one of the project's engineers call for approximately $30,000 per year in savings brought about by energy efficiency improvements included in the project, reducing the annual impact from $53,107 to the $23,107 figure.
