Summer concert is set for Aug. 11

The village has accepted a proposal for a concert this summer on Doubleday Field.
The name of the group or performers who will be appearing will not be released until there's a signed contract, but concert committee chairwoman Lee Malone says she is certain the community will be pleased.
"We've been asked not to disclose the name of the performers until the contract is signed," she said. "I think people will be excited, though."
The concert committee and board of trustees met in a special closed door session late Friday to discuss and vote on a concert proposal from Ed and Judi Tripp, who promoted last year's Beach Boys and Herman's Hermit's concert.
After more than an hour-and-a-half in executive session, the board announced they had reached a deal with the Tripps to promote the concert.
There were no proposals from other promoters.
The concert will be held Friday, Aug. 11.
Malone said she anticipated village attorney John Lambert would be drawing up a contract very soon.
Two years ago, the village held the first concert in Doubleday Field in many years.
It was a sell-out that featured Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, who kicked-off their tour of minor league baseball stadiums at the historic ballfield.
But last year, because of lower than expected ticket sales, the mayor and board of trustees agreed in a four-to-three vote after the concert to forgive some promised revenue from the Tripps and along with the Chamber of Commerce settled for recovering expenses.
The board did not discuss terms of the proposal approved Friday afternoon.
The new proposal calls for ticket sales to again be handled by the Chamber of Commerce.
As the in the past two years, food concessions will handled by the Cooperstown Fire Department.
