Staff Report
President George W. Bush held the vote in Otsego County, raking in 12,590 votes, while democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry collected 11,404 votes, according to early vote tallies Tuesday evening.
Bush swept all the towns in Otsego County, except for Middlefield, Oneonta and Otsego.
Kerry, however, captured the 31 electoral votes for the state of New York.
Though the official election results are not all in Wednesday morning, President Bush planned to officially announce his victory later that day.
Kerry was expected to admit Wednesday afternoon that the swing state of Ohio and election went to Bush.
In the senate race, Sen. Charles Schumer easily overtook republican underdog opponent Howard Mills.
With 91 percent of the votes counted, 71 percent voted in favor of Schumer. Only 24 percent voted for Mills. Three percent voted for the Conservative Party's Marilyn O'Grady and 1 percent voted for the Green Party's David McReynolds.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, Boehlert received 57 percent of the vote. Miller had 34 percent of the vote and Walrath had 10.
Republican State Sen. James Seward ran unopposed in the 51st district.
"Nobody cares about [my] race," he said shortly after 8:30 p.m. on election night.
Republican Assemblyman Clifford Crouch took the 107th district while Democratic Assemblyman Bill Magee took the 111th district.
In the 117th district, Rep. Marc Butler overtook democratic challenger Joan Carrig.
