Winter Carnival wraps up

The Polar Bears jumped into Otsego Lake full of vim and vigor and jumped back out with faces mottled purple from the cold.
They raised over $6,500 for Nicole Prescot, Tiffany Kenner Knecht and Bob Cornell. Money is still being raised, and contributors can send it to Cooperstown Winter Carnival Polar Bear Jump, P.O. Box 912, Cooperstown.
"Everything was great. It went really well," said Milo Stewart Jr., Winter Carnival chairman.
The Lip Sync contest was a heavy draw, Stewart said. The Cooperstown Graduate Program won first place, Church and Scott took second and Anorexia Main Dish came in third.
June Christman's Lemon Surprise Cheesecake was the victor in that camp, and she won a one night's stay at the Cooperstown Bed and Breakfast, where the Cheesecake Tasting was held. Jackie's Restaurant took second for Maple Walnut Cheesecake and garnered a $15 gift certificate to the Cooperstown Cheese factory. Jean's Wyckoff's Chunka Choco Latte won her third place and a silver domed pedestal cake plate.
The Pitch Contest winners are George Tucker and Norm Bachanas with 317 points, Kristi Swatling and Lori Lamb in the number two slot with 316 points, Bill and Keith Dickinson in third with 312, and Claude Wilson and Audri Skubitz with 307. Wilson and Skubitz also took high game score with 39 points.
The Cherry Bomb from the 1819 House and The Bold Dragoon's Tropsical tied for first in the Cooler Contest, with the VFW's Frostbite in second and The Hoffman Lane Bistro's USS Icebreaker in third.
The Chili Contest individual winners are: John Santello, who also won best overall, Amanda Smithson and Liane Hirabyshi, in that order. In the business category, The 1819 House, Hoffman Lane Bistro and Stewart's took first, second and third place respectively.
The Bob Smullens 10K Road Race results put Mike Rutledge at first place with 34:15, Dave Hannon in second with 36:11 and Ryan Hunt in third with 38:49. Merle Myerson won in the women's division in 44:01, Shari Johnson Ploutz came in second with a time of 44:25, and Helen Risney finished third in 47:55.
Walker Herman won the Free Throw Contest followed by Pete Freehafer in second and Bob Crampton in third. Pete Freehafer won the Three Point Contest, followed by Brad Feik in second.
