There will be a new face on the Cooperstown village board.
Glenn Hubbell Jr., 43, won a three year term with 167 votes.
Hubbell, a Republican who ran as an Independent, said, "I'm excited about getting ready to serve. I'm sorry my running mate lost but we'll take it from there. I'm looking forward to learning how the operation is run."
Stu Taugher, 78, a Democrat, won the other seat with 133 votes. Taugher's commitment to improving the village through effort and commitment is apparent when he talks about the post.
"There are problems I feel I could help solve for the present and future," said Taugher. "One would be the sewer system, another would be enhancing the Doubleday Field grandstand with the Friends of Doubleday, and a third would be the reservoir. It's very old and needs restoring. It's not big enough for the amount of water we have."
Republican incumbent Stephen Mahlum, who also ran as an Independent, received 115 votes. Mahlum, 50, served three and a half years on the board.
"I appreciate the opportunity to have served," said Mahlum, "and congratulate Stu and Glenn on their victory. I wish them well. Cooperstown has chosen two very fine representatives, and life goes on."
The election drew 208 voters. Deputy village clerk Asa Guhl said that it was a "pretty good turnous."
There are close to 900 registered voters in Cooperstown.
Guhl said she sworn in Hubbell Wednesday monring and that he will officially take office on the first Monday in April.
Of the 208 votes cast, she said, 38 came in via absentee ballot.
